6 Mistakes Brides Make When Choosing Wedding Shoes

1. CHOOSING THE WRONG HEEL HEIGHT

We know you want to feel special on your wedding day and that going for something different from what you usually wear might be tempting. Keep in mind that on you will be on your feet for a long time, so it is best to choose a heel height that you’re comfortable with, and used to wearing. If necessary, you may need to shorten your dress (if renting, or afraid of making permanent alterations, you can just take the hem in), so that you do not risk tripping up. You want your day to be memorable for the right reasons, not for you tripping while walking down the aisle.

2. NOT GETTING THE RIGHT FIT

We have all made the mistake of buying a shoe that we love but runs a little bigger or smaller on our feet. We lie to ourselves by saying that they are tolerable when in reality, we keep them in the back of our closet destined to collect dust. This is something that you should always avoid, especially on your wedding day. The wrong fit will make your feet sore and won’t let you focus on what is important: enjoying your special day. Always go for a shoe that fits you perfectly.

3. CHOOSING LOOKS OVER COMFORT

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look fabulous on your special day!

On the other hand, you will not only want to look fabulous but also be able to walk down the aisle, walk up to your guests, take pictures, and dance. You don’t need to sacrifice comfort for looks. If there’s a pair of bridal shoes you love, you can make them more comfortable by adding a padded insole (or even find shoes that already have this included, like KADA: KUDU’s Perfect Pump). So, make sure to not only pick shoes that you love but shoes your feet will love as well.

4.GETTING SHOES THAT DON’T MATCH YOUR DRESS

If the dress is long enough to cover your feet, you can wear anything that fits your dress length. But if your feet are showing: your bridal shoes had better match your dress! Keep a photo of your wedding dress handy when you go shoe shopping.

If you feel like your camera is not capturing the right color of your dress--we know there are many different shades of white or cream-- keep a swatch or color code number handy (you can use a color detection app to help you find the color code).

5. BUYING YOUR SHOES AT THE LAST MINUTE

We understand that planning a wedding is overwhelming and that it is hard to remember everything you must prepare for the special day, so we are here to remind you: your wedding shoes are as important as your wedding dress!

Your bridal shoes will support you while you walk down the aisle, say your vows, and dance. So spare some time to choose your wedding shoes. This way, you can pick shoes that you love while avoiding the mistakes mentioned in this guide.

However, if it has already slipped your mind, we’ve got your back. Not only are KADA:KUDU’s the most comfortable heels you will ever wear, and you can be assured of a perfect fit using KADA:KUDU’s Size Me mobile tool.

6. NOT TRYING ON YOUR SHOES BEFORE THE BIG DAY

The only way of knowing if the shoes will be comfortable enough for your wedding day is by wearing them. And not just for a few moments. If you keep your shoes in the box after trying them on only once, you will not be able to know how comfortable they actually are after some time.

Remember, this will be a long day of standing and walking. It is best to test them and break them in, so they’re even more comfortable when it is time to wear them on your big day. You don't have to wear them outside (in case you're worried about damaging them), just wear your shoes at home for a short amount of time to break them in and get used to them.
